You build your cashflow spreadsheet by adding items in these groups in this order. How to add
these items is discussed in Chapter 9.
1. Income - Add all incomes from which checks will be deposited into the cashflow space’s
checking account.
2. Credit cards - Add the credit cards for which payments will come from the cashflow
space’s checking account. (Credit card charges and refunds will be entered later when
preparing to pay bills. Now is a good time to change each credit card payment due day to
the same day as one of your monthly spreadsheet column days.)
3. Bills - Add all bills that will be paid from the cashflow space’s checking account. Add the
bills that you know about now. Including all of your bills in your spreadsheet could take
up to a year to accomplish because of annual payments such as subscriptions. Also add
any credit cards that you are treating as bills until the balance is paid off.
4. Allowance - Set up your weekly allowance that you will get from the cashflow space’s
checking account.
